Eight Little Reindeer

Taking a felt food break for a moment, I made these cute reindeer t-shirts.  Super easy, and super fast!

I have 5 nieces and nephews that live nearby, plus my two kids, the age range is 3-14...and every year their brave grandma takes them ALL out for the day to have whatever festive holiday experiences she can think up.  So this year I thought it might be fun for them all to have matching shirts (and make it easier for grandma to keep track of all of them!)...and of course grandma needed one too.

More Food! More Food!!

So the Christmas rush is over, and we had some extreme crafting going on at our house!! Luckily now I have a small window to take a few deep breaths before the back to school crazyness begins, and I can reflect on all the fun projects I have accomplished over the last few weeks.....Now on to some more felt food fun!

Can you honestly say you've ever seen a cute carrot?  I can!  I love how these turned out:

And what if you have a craving for a pepperoni pizza straight out of the oven? No problem!  The "crust" on the pizza and the cheese can also be used to make tacos :)

More of a breakfast food kind of person?

Don't worry, if you are getting tired of all of the healthy food and need some sweets, the next post will be full of desserts!!

Felt Food Frenzy

While I have added a fabulous turkey shirt into my repertoire, (mostly just because my sewing machine was already set up), the thing I am most excited about lately is felt food.  Have you tried it???!!!! It is so super easy to make, and it always turns out cute, there is really no wrong way to make it.

I have been working on these for about the last month. I spend one hour (sometimes more if I am really on a roll) every night after the kids go to bed, and in that time I am able to complete one "set" (like a loaf of bread, a stick and pats of butter, or a jar of pickles) of food, sometimes more.  My plan is to pack it all into felt grocery bags and give it to my kids as a Christmas present, and then we can throw out all of the stupid, plastic, unrecognizable food currently in the play kitchen.

The only problem with felt food??  It's addicting!! While I gave myself two months to complete it all, which for me is really a lot of forethought, it is just not enough time!!!  Did you know there are only 20 days left till Christmas?  20!!!!!  Feel panicked yet?!! Yep me too! Each type of food only takes me around an hour, but I keep coming up with new things I want to make, plus packaging for all of the food.  I have now forced my family and near by extended family to purchase and consume the smallest possible plastic jars of mayo and peanut butter so I can use them for felt food packaging.  And I have sucked my SIL into this project because she owns an embroidery machine (sorry Casi!).

So now for the reward of my addicting new hobby....the food!  Don't worry, I will spread out the fun as long as possible and post pictures over several days as I complete each project :)

Fresh strawberries anyone?

How about a delicious sandwich with potato chips and a pickle for lunch?

A Little Turkey

Happy Thanksgiving!!!  (A little late, but I was eating turkey....and then I had to sleep it off....clean the house....decorate for Christmas....you know!)  Thought I would share a quick little turkey day project, a turkey shirt.  Perfect, fun, comfy attire for Thanksgiving day.  And this shirt only took me about 1 hour to make start to finish! (That's my kind of project)

Ryan loved her shirt, and wore it to school multiple times, and on Thanksgiving. Notice the head tilt, that is to show off her newly pierced ears :)

I did have to go back and tack the tops of the ribbons down because I made them too long and they started to flop over, otherwise I was very happy with how well the shirt turned out.

I got the idea for this shirt from this blog: http://www.lovefromtexas.com/2011/07/phone-pics.html she has lots of cute embroidery and applique ideas
