Felt Food Frenzy

While I have added a fabulous turkey shirt into my repertoire, (mostly just because my sewing machine was already set up), the thing I am most excited about lately is felt food.  Have you tried it???!!!! It is so super easy to make, and it always turns out cute, there is really no wrong way to make it.

I have been working on these for about the last month. I spend one hour (sometimes more if I am really on a roll) every night after the kids go to bed, and in that time I am able to complete one "set" (like a loaf of bread, a stick and pats of butter, or a jar of pickles) of food, sometimes more.  My plan is to pack it all into felt grocery bags and give it to my kids as a Christmas present, and then we can throw out all of the stupid, plastic, unrecognizable food currently in the play kitchen.

The only problem with felt food??  It's addicting!! While I gave myself two months to complete it all, which for me is really a lot of forethought, it is just not enough time!!!  Did you know there are only 20 days left till Christmas?  20!!!!!  Feel panicked yet?!! Yep me too! Each type of food only takes me around an hour, but I keep coming up with new things I want to make, plus packaging for all of the food.  I have now forced my family and near by extended family to purchase and consume the smallest possible plastic jars of mayo and peanut butter so I can use them for felt food packaging.  And I have sucked my SIL into this project because she owns an embroidery machine (sorry Casi!).

So now for the reward of my addicting new hobby....the food!  Don't worry, I will spread out the fun as long as possible and post pictures over several days as I complete each project :)

Fresh strawberries anyone?

How about a delicious sandwich with potato chips and a pickle for lunch?
